Debra has fourteen years’ experience in journalism, copywriting, contract publishing and PR.
As a journalist, she played a key role on Ziff Davis’ market-leading IT titles, PC Direct and Computer Life, and was launch editor of Education Direct, a successful quarterly publication for IT buyers in schools and colleges. She was runner-up PPA Writer of the Year and twice runner-up UK Press Gazette Writer of the Year.
A co-founder of contract publishing company, Amerland UK, she published consumer-friendly and practical IT magazines for Viglen Computers, Time Computers and Evesham Micros. She has also managed pan-European custom publishing contracts for Ziff Davis.
As a director of New Media PR agency, Flapjack Communications, Debra advised clients including Channel 4 and Celador (maker of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?) on communications strategy.

Since going freelance, her copywriting and editorial strategy clients have included the London Borough of Southwark, Docklands Light Railway, the British Society for Immunology, St Dunstan’s, indigo creative and artfrog.
